A Purpose-Built Easy-Open Lid for Retort Food
Laminated into a structure such as PET 12μm // AL 9μm // ONY 15μm // EO-RCPP 50μm, F45A5 forms the food-contact heat-seal layer of the lid. Unlike lidding films that lose seal integrity or shift in peel strength after autoclaving, it is formulated to hold a stable heat-sealing tension with only a small, predictable difference in peel force before and after sterilization — giving converters and co-packers a heat-sealing window of over 30°C to work with on the production line.

Questions About F45A5
When does F45A5 make more sense than the 30 or 70 μm grades?
When the lid needs more stiffness than F4531 (30 μm) but doesn't justify F45A7 (70 μm), the 50 μm F45A5 is the middle answer. All three share heat rating and laminate structure, so the choice is really rigidity versus unit cost — wider container openings, or packs that see compression in transit, usually start here.
F45A5 is rated 130°C — what conditions was it actually validated at?
The rating is a ceiling; the tested condition is 121°C for 30 minutes under pressurized sterilization. Keep the two apart: 121°C/30 min is the validated retort process, 130°C is what the film structure withstands. If your process runs hotter than 121°C, request samples and validate seals under your real conditions first.
Does F45A5 run the same heat-seal settings as its siblings?
It does. The whole series shares 3.2 kg/cm² pressure for 1 second, with a sealing window likewise above 30°C. A line already running F4531 or F45A7 does not need seal-bar recalibration to switch — only a check on stroke to account for the gauge change.
Once laminated, what does F45A5 seal to?
PP containers, with its sealing face doubling as the food-contact face. The laminate follows the series' standard foil composite layup with a 50 μm inner layer, producing a retortable easy-peel lid for pouched meals, pet food and microwaveable trays. Lines already running F4531 or F45A7 keep the same layer configuration and change only the inner-layer grade.
F45A5 elongates 700%/800% — more than the 30 μm grade. Why does that matter?
Higher elongation means the film yields rather than fractures under load. F45A5 runs 700%/800% MD/TD against F4531 's 590%/650%, so localized stress — transit vibration, or the moment a consumer tears the lid — is absorbed by stretching instead of splitting. The trade-off is slightly lower break point (550 versus 610 kg/cm² MD).
