MPP/PE Thermoforming Film — Medical Care Package
F4539 is the 120μm deeper-draw grade in Intlpak's MPP/PE thermoforming film series — a vacuum thermoforming base film for medical device packaging at forming depths up to 30mm, with suitability for E.O. (ethylene oxide) sterilization.
A Deeper-Draw Base Film for Bulkier Medical Devices
F4539 extends Intlpak's MPP/PE series to 120μm for deeper draws — up to 30mm — where devices need more cavity volume than the 80μm F4538 provides. It runs the same computer-controlled co-extrusion with automatic foreign-object detection and thickness control in clean-room conditions, and the heavier gauge keeps the formability, pinhole resistance, transparency, and gloss inspectors rely on.
Where F4539 Is Used
- 1 Vacuum thermoforming base film for disposable medical supplies and medical equipment
- 2 Injection syringes, gauze, cotton pads, and sputum suction tubes
- 3 Bulkier medical devices requiring a deeper 30mm forming cavity
- 4 Packaging lines requiring E.O. (ethylene oxide) sterilization compatibility

Questions About F4539
F4539 forms to 30 mm, double F4538 — what does that cost?
Gauge and money. F4539 is 120 μm against F4538 's 80 μm, and those 40 μm take forming capability from 10–15 mm up to 30 mm. For flat devices, specifying F4539 adds material cost and thermoforming energy without adding any sterile-barrier benefit.
Can F4539 be gamma sterilized?
No — this grade is specified for ethylene oxide (E.O.). For gamma compatibility, move to the nylon medical family: F2615-M (120 μm, 10–30 mm) matches F4539 closely on both gauge and forming depth while accepting E.O. and gamma, making it the most direct substitution.
At 30 mm of draw, does corner thinning threaten the sterile barrier?
That is precisely what to validate. 30 mm is the recommended ceiling, within which wall-thickness distribution stays acceptable — but the real result depends on tooling radii, forming temperature and heating time. Measure actual corner wall thickness during process validation and fold the data into your sterile barrier qualification.
What top web does F4539 pair with?
A breathable one — medical-grade dialysis paper or Tyvek, so E.O. can enter and leave while the microbial barrier holds. F4539 is the bottom web, thermoformed into the device cavity; sealed to the top web it completes the sterile barrier system, with seal parameters qualified alongside sterilization and ageing studies.
Which devices suit F4539?
Anything needing a deeper cavity — instrument sets, orthopaedic implant packaging, bulkier single-use devices. It is positioned as the deep-draw forming base film for E.O. processes; for greater depth or gamma sterilization, evaluate the nylon grade F2606-M (150 μm, 30–50 mm).
