A Heavier-Gauge Easy-Open Lid for Demanding Retort Loads
F45A7 is the 70μm grade in the family, laminated into structures such as PET 12μm // AL 9μm // ONY 15μm // EO-RCPP 70μm. The extra gauge gives a stiffer, more puncture-resistant web for larger or heavier-fill containers, while keeping the family's stable heat-sealing tension — only a small, predictable difference in peel force before and after sterilization, and a heat-sealing window of over 30°C on the line.

Questions About F45A7
F45A7 runs 70 μm — which applications actually need that gauge?
Wide-mouth lids, deeper containers, and packs whose lid carries stacking load. As the heaviest grade in the series it posts the highest TD break point at 420 kg/cm² against F4531 's 330 and F45A5 's 350, so cross-direction tear resistance is the best of the three. For small openings in ordinary retail distribution, the gauge is cost you don't need.
Does doubling the gauge raise F45A7's heat resistance above the thinner grades?
No. Heat resistance comes from the resin formulation, not thickness — F45A7 carries the same 121–130°C rating as F4531 and F45A5 , validated at the same 121°C/30-minute retort condition. What the extra gauge buys is mechanical strength and stiffness, not a higher temperature ceiling.
What are F45A7's heat-seal conditions and sealing window?
3.2 kg/cm² pressure, 1 second dwell, with a sealing window above 30°C — identical to the rest of the series. The added gauge slightly lengthens heat transfer to the seal interface, so start commissioning in the middle of the window and trim from measured seal strength.
What laminate structure is recommended for F45A7?
A four-layer composite: PET, aluminium foil, ONY, then EO-RCPP 70 μm inward. The division of labour is clean — PET carries print, foil blocks light and oxygen, ONY supplies puncture toughness, and F45A7 is the only layer touching food and the one that determines how the lid feels when opened. It seals to PP containers.
F45A7 has the series' highest haze at 13.7% — does appearance suffer?
In practice, rarely: lids in this series are usually laminated to aluminium foil and are opaque anyway, so haze has limited effect on the finished pack. Designs that genuinely need to show the contents should use F4531 at 8.0% haze. F45A7 is positioned for stiffness and strength, and its 770%/830% elongation — the highest of the three — gives the best toughness during forming and opening.
